Collection: Havaianas

Havaianas was founded in Brazil in 1962 and is today synonymous with the classic flip-flop. The brand revolutionized the footwear market by being the first to adapt the traditional Japanese zori sandal’s rice-molded structure into a durable rubber version. Building on patented natural rubber, high flexibility, and a unique color palette, Havaianas has evolved from a functional everyday sandal into an indispensable, global summer icon.

Origins and the Japanese Foundation

Havaianas got its start in 1962 under the company Alpargatas S.A. The brand’s first design drew direct inspiration from Japanese zori sandals, which were traditionally made with soles of woven rice straw. Havaianas reimagined the concept by molding the soles from vulcanized natural rubber with a distinctive pattern of rice straw on the tread—a signature detail that continues to ensure both slip resistance and optimal comfort underfoot.

Materials, Durability, and Fit

At the heart of Havaianas’ enduring popularity is the unique rubber compound and well-thought-out construction:

100% high-quality rubber: Unlike cheaper plastic alternatives, the vulcanized rubber retains its shape, doesn’t get hot in the sun, and resists both odors and wear over many seasons.

Classic Silhouettes: The collection includes both the traditional wide straps and the slimmer Slim models, which offer a more elegant and delicate look on the foot.

Functional comfort: The flexible rubber sole and soft toe straps ensure that the sandal naturally conforms to the foot without rubbing, whether you’re heading to the beach or out on the town.
