The brand’s first design drew direct inspiration from Japanese zori sandals, which were traditionally made with soles of woven rice straw. Havaianas reimagined the concept by molding the soles from vulcanized natural rubber with a distinctive pattern of rice straw on the tread—a signature detail that continues to ensure both slip resistance and optimal comfort underfoot.
