Origins and Design Concept
Dragon Diffusion emerged from founder Craig Wright’s fascination with traditional weaving techniques from cultures around the world—from Balinese baskets to Japanese bamboo crafts. Based in Brussels, Wright adapted these basket-weaving techniques to leather to create a collection of structured, unlined leather bags that combine functional craftsmanship with a timeless, understated aesthetic.
Craftsmanship, Materials, and Construction
Dragon Diffusion’s products are defined by a traditional, manual manufacturing process that prioritizes the quality and aging of the raw material:
Handwoven in Chennai: The bags are crafted in dedicated workshops in Chennai, India, where local artisans weave each piece by hand. As a mark of authenticity, a small metal double coin featuring Saint Christopher—the patron saint of travelers—is sewn into each bag.
Vegetable-tanned leather: The leather is dyed with natural plant pigments, which preserve the leather’s natural texture and allow the color to age beautifully with exposure to sunlight and use.
Maintenance and Care of Your Dragon Diffusion Bag
Since the bags are made of unlined, vegetable-tanned leather without synthetic surface treatments, they require proper care to maintain their shape and texture:
Color Transfer and Water Exposure: Initially, excess dye from the vegetable-tanning process may transfer to light-colored clothing. Avoid direct contact with water and rain, as moisture can affect the leather’s pigments.
Wiping and cleaning: Remove any dust with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use harsh detergents or chemical leather cleaning products.
Storage and Fit: Since the bag molds to your shape and weight over time, it should be stored in a dry place and lightly stuffed with paper when not in use to preserve the quality of the weave and its shape.
