66°North was founded in 1926 by Hans Kristjánsson with a mission to create protective clothing for Icelandic fishermen and workers braving the harsh North Atlantic conditions. Hans Kristjánsson lived in Suðureyri in Súgandafjörður in the Icelandic Westfjords, where the weather was extremely harsh and climate-appropriate clothing was crucial for survival.
Today, the brand continues to produce functional clothing without compromising on comfort and suitability for various physical activities. While clothing and workwear for fishermen remain a fundamental aspect, the brand now offers a much wider selection of protective outerwear for all purposes and styles.
