Background and Origins
The story of gabi gamél began in Copenhagen in 2022. The brand’s first piece came to life when founder Gabriella Gamél designed and sewed a top for her own use and subsequently shared the creation process on social media. The immediate demand laid the foundation for the launch of gabi gamél as an established brand focused on artisanal precision.
Studio, Materials, and Production
The design process is rooted in a controlled and mindful approach to textiles and fabrication:
Local pattern development: All designs are drafted, cut, and tailored in the brand’s own studio in Copenhagen.
Deadstock and upcycling: To avoid the production of new textiles, the brand primarily uses existing surplus materials and upcycled fabrics, which naturally limits the size of each production run.
Portuguese workshop production: The final sewing takes place at a small workshop in Portugal, ensuring a high and consistent standard of craftsmanship.
